Summary[]
Aunt Lily has returned from her sea voyage and unknowingly burns down the de Luttrelles' stables. Daniel and the miners help the de Luttrelles put out the fire.
When Gervaise decides to sell the crown for money Constance grabs it and races through the mirror, just as Fergus hurls an object at the mirror; Daniel and Constance are in mid-journey. The mirror shatters into a thousand pieces.
Daniel and Constance find themselves trapped in the house, but in a different dimension, with no way out.
